Solaris Debugging Commands

Here are a few Solaris commands useful for debugging problems.

  • truss = outputs system calls and parameters
  • pstack = prints the stack of a running process or core file
  • xargs = can replace a lot of shell script looping structures with a single command
  • netstat -i = show network interface information
  • dtrace (Solaris 10 only) - allows programs to be written to trap and use debugging information.
